We’ve been taking feedback from our consultant partner community and are hard at work building out functionality and integrations that will help your nonprofit clients succeed.
I’m looking forward to sharing those advancements but, in the meantime, we’ve had a whole wave of new content collaborations with our partners where I’m sure you’ll find some value. Whether you’re into volunteering strategy, data maturity, community building, or processes, there’s something here for you.
When speaking with nonprofit leaders, one thing that stood out to me during NTEN last month was the challenges they all shared in finding and retaining volunteers.
Understanding volunteer strategy is a critical component to advising the operations of any nonprofit, so I got together with our partners at Purposely to capture their best practices for managing corporate volunteers.
If the nonprofits you work with are struggling with their volunteer strategy, this practical new article may help as a starting point.
Assess your Data Maturity
If you regularly read this newsletter – first of all, thank you!! - you may remember a piece we published a few weeks ago sharing the insights of our partner, Sowen, who specializes in impact data management.
I’m pleased to share that Sowen is back to share with you their latest tool: the Sowen Data Accelerator. This is an evaluation that you can share with clients, friends, or even use yourself to understand where you currently are in your data maturity journey.
Curious to learn more? Our latest article outlines how this survey works and describes the 4 Pillars of Digital Maturity: Knowledge, People, Process, and Tools.
To my Fellow Canadians, meet Connect for Good
One of our friends, Sara Hoshooly, has recently kicked off a fantastic new resource hub to support Canadian nonprofits.
Connect for Good is a community where individuals can share knowledge and tools that help Canadian nonprofit organizations thrive. They're always looking for contributions from people who serve nonprofit organizations – you can even read the post that I submitted here.
Whether you’re a Canadian agency or if you have clients in Canada, Connect for Good is poised to be a valuable hub of information that aims to make everyone succeed!
What We’re Reading
You may be familiar with the Pareto Principal, otherwise known as the 80/20 rule, where 80% of your results typically come from 20% of your efforts. Knowing this, it follows that any organization should spend time thinking deeply about the activities that make up that 20% and focusing on making them as effective as possible.
Process!, by Mike Patton and Lisa Gonzales, tells us how and why we should analyze core processes and document, document, document. It’s a simple idea, but one we often overcomplicate, under-communicate, or misunderstand entirely. When done properly, effective documentation of your ‘20%’ processes gives your team the freedom to focus on nuances and details that move things forward. It’s the very definition of setting people up for success.
It’s a short read and one that offers a lot of practical advice. Let me know what you think!
