Welcome to the iATS Innovator Award 2019!

Just over a year ago, we officially announced the winners of our first-ever iATS Innovator Award, a grant focusing on recognizing the outstanding achievements and breakthrough fundraising innovations of iATS Payments' 12,000+ nonprofit clients. With nearly 250 applications, we knew we were on to something.

Congrats to Seva Canada and the other 2018 winners!

We're thrilled to be back again in 2019 with our second annual iATS Innovator Award. Based on your feedback, we're making a few tweaks to the award program, including making prize money available to a larger number of nonprofits and curating submissions into shareable examples that we can all learn from.

There are three award categories, with a total of $15,000 in donations up for grabs:

  • Most Innovative Fundraising Campaign
  • Most Effective Nonprofit Technology Project
  • Local Heroes

More information about each category, including eligibility criteria, judgement criteria, prizes and an online application, is available below.

Award submission deadline: 4 pm Pacific on Friday, July 12 2019

Category #1: Most Innovative Fundraising Campaign

With donors' attention dwindling and competition for donations heating up, nonprofits have been tasked with becoming more and more creative with their fundraising efforts. So we wanted to identify and recognize those nonprofits who have stepped up their game and executed campaigns that helped them not only meet their fundraising targets, but also stand out from the crowd.

Eligibility criteria:

  • All current iATS Payments clients are eligible.
  • Campaigns must have been completed in 2018 or 2019.
  • Campaigns must include some sort of online or digital component.
  • One submission per category per organization.

Judgement criteria:

  • To what degree did the campaign achieve the desired objective?
  • How creative and innovative was the campaign?
  • What was the cost/budget vs. benefit/outcome? P.S. It's not about which campaign had the largest budget.

Prizes:

  • Winner: $3,000 donation
  • Runner-up #1: $1,000 donation
  • Runner-up #2: $1,000 donation

Category #2: Most Effective Nonprofit Technology Project

Whether it's raising money, streamlining manual processes or engaging donors more effectively, it's no secret that technology is transforming the nonprofit sector like never before. Let's recognize and share examples of the value that successful technology projects bring to nonprofits of all shapes and sizes.

It could be a customer-facing project (like online/mobile/P2P fundraising, digital marketing, events, etc.) or an internal-facing project (like a CRM implementation or integration, a data hygiene initiative, an accounting system upgrade, a process automation, etc.). The possibilities are truly limitless.

Eligibility criteria:

  • All current iATS Payments clients are eligible.
  • All iATS' current and prospective ISV and consulting partners are eligible (partners may apply on the client's behalf or as a joint submission).
  • Projects need to demonstrate a direct or indirect linkage to online fundraising and payments.
  • Projects must have been completed and gone live in 2018 or 2019.
  • One submission per category per organization.

Judgement criteria:

  • Was the project effective? To what degree did the project achieve the desired objective and/or solve a problem?
  • What was the cost/budget vs. benefit/outcome? P.S. It's not about which project had the largest budget.
  • What was the project's impact on the organization's ability to advance its mission?
  • What is unique about this project that contributed to its success?

Prizes:

  • Winner: $3,000 donation
  • Runner-up #1: $1,000 donation
  • Runner-up #2: $1,000 donation
